I could be stable...the only thing that exposes a weak core is time...time power and heat, i thought all 4 cores i had were stable...then one day while in gaming the gun and sky began to stutter...guess what core 3 was unstable (although it passed many stress tests and still does) but in gaming, weird stuff happens. So all in all no stress test will expose a weak core...only time.

Well then lol. Hmmm.. what i personally would do is keep bumping the cpu volts only untill max safe predefined stated voltage <- disclaimer lol, and see if it stablizes it, just simply to eliminate the voltage factor, and see if its indeed, that which is holding you back. then if it hasnt stablized it, you can rule the volts out and roll on to the next thing which it could be.

Edit: just edited because, im not 100% sure if im understanding the situation properly, Are you asking if your core is stable, or are you saying its not, and asking why? (I must l2read)

why dun u try to run it 1 by 1 and hit 3 ghz..... what i mean is use only 1 core and lock the other 3 core and start windows with 3 ghz clock to make sure which core is unstable.... repeat the same step with with the other 3 more core... to find the unstable core.... i do that step for my 555 BE...

I'll just leave it unlocked at 2.6GHz BC2 went from barely 30 FPS to well over 70

i was just wondering if it has better chance of being stable now that i ran OCCT for over an hour and never gave even 1 error.

my mobo doesn't have the ability to unlock certain cores its all or nothing

Surprizingly anough, (im gonna get flamed for this, i can see it lol) I find Heaven Benchmark, great for quick cpu stablility tests, never makes it more then half way through the test without BSOD if the cpu hasn't anough of anything, obviously its not a 'cool man, im 100% stable' afterwards for sure', but you'll know in about 5 minutes if its likely to crash, so your not sitting there sweating bullets waiting for it to happen lol

used it more for last cpu, as i've bairly OCd this yet, waiting for cooler

Edit: I'd say you'll be able to get it higher then stock, maybe not 3GHz, but maybe 2.8. But id take 4 cores @2.6 over 2 cores @3.0 any day so you still win either way lol
