Changing my CPU, Mobo and Memory. Little help!

Thread Starter
Hello guys! So, next week i'm changing my rig a little.

What i'm going to do is get a i7 2600k with a MSI P67A-GD65 and for the memos I really liked the Kingston KHX2250 6gb's. ( The cooler i'm still thinking if I go air like Silver Arrow or water?

So i'm here to ask you experienced guys how this is? Is it good or maybe some another Memo or mobo?

And if you guys wanna know the budget, the cost of those items here in japan will be around 730 USD.

PS: I want to do heavy-ass overclocks

Thanks guys!

( Sorry I maybe posted in the wrong forum? =P )

that memory is a triple channel kit. you want either a 2x2gb kit, or a 2x4gb kit. Other than that its solid.

no, 1155 is Dual channel. No biggie though! look for a nice 4gb module 8gb kit.

Socket 1155 uses a dual channel memory controller so you'll want either 2x2 or 2x4. The GD65 is a really solid motherboard, what do you intend to do with the computer though? The 2600k isn't really necessary (the difference being hyper-threading) for most things and the 2500k is way more than enough for gaming etc, and it overclocks nearly just as well, it can also reach 5 ghz (if you're lucky).

Definitely opt for the 2500k then and save yourself 100+ bucks, put it towards a new CPU cooler, the 2600k is only necessary if you do like video encoding and stuff like that. As far as ram goes I'd probably recommend either Corsair Vengeance or Ripjaws X. You can probably find an 8gb 1600 mhz 9-9-9-24 set for 90 bucks.

With that extra money you'd have enough for the Noctua NH-D14, that will definitely net you some good overclocking.

This is true also if you want to fold, either way though make sure you have the money to spare for a good CPU cooler if you plan on overclocking.
