1090T: Is this overclock critical, are the volts too high?

Thread Starter
I just installed a new air cooler, Noctua NH-D14. My overclock is currently CPU: 21x200=4200 Mhz @ 1.512500V and NorthBridge: 3000 Mhz @ 1.312500V. In BIOS the CPU volts are marked red and the NB volts are marked purple.

With lower Volts it didn't even boot in Windows. I also tried 4.3 Ghz but couldn't find the right voltage to boot in Windows, it always rebooted before Windows was fully loaded.

I haven't stress tested with prime95 or something yet, I only ran this Windows 7 Benchmark thingy and got 7.7, 7.8, 7.7, 7.7, 7.1 and total 7.1.

Temperature on idle, desktop, is 25°C in "Core Temp 0.99.8".

A 30+ minute prime95 blend will tell you pretty quick.

It's probably unstable if you just needed that voltage to boot.

1) WEI is garbage. Your overall score will be of the lowest component.
2) Max 'safe' volts is 1.55, also keep CPU under 62C.

This^

Run a stability test like Prime95 or Wprime1024 to check for stability, and make sure the temps stay under 62C.

Windows froze, I had to reset, after about 30 seconds of prime95 blend already. How should I adjust?

Edit: It also just rebooted while watching a video on youtube.

Now I'm at 4.1 Ghz @ 1.5V and NB 3Ghz @ 1.3125V

Sorry for the double post, guess I hit "Quote" instead of "Edit".

Obviously very unstable. Start over. Reset CMOS.

Print out pdf in my signature, read the many guides on overclock.net in the AMD CPU section. Enter BIOS, reference to pdf, as you tune settings.

1) Tune Settings
2) Benchmark Settings
3) Stability Test Settings while Monitoring Temperatures and Voltages

If it freezes or reboots, does that mean the volts are too low? Should I increase the cpu volts then?

Sorry, but what's the CMOS? Does resetting it mean to restore the factory defaults in BIOS?

Thanks for the Pdf.
