You can lock on your target if that's what you're asking. I don't know they the key is since I use the gamepad though.

Also I find TW2's combat to not be rewarding only at the start of the game, same with TW1. As you progress it will get better.

Reason I ask is because I honestly didn't care for the first Witcher. So in other words, is Witcher 2 that much better then the first to warrent me giving it a shot?
TW2 takes place after TW1, so yes you should play TW1 before playing TW2. You don't have to, but think of it like playing ME2 without playing ME1.

Your choices in TW1 will carry over.

alt is for locking on. but i don't have a pad so picking which on to target is a *****. infact lock on is often an easy way get killed since the people behind you will chop you to bits before you get the chance to respond.

I think a tactical pause button would improve the game a lot.

no, the combat was not balanced and easy to make a party that could handle everything with ease, killling the waves of enemies sent almost instantly.

Against bosses, all you did was get aggro with 1 character, and then run in circles while the rest of the party pounds on him, once aggro changes, you then simply run that character around in circles.

Rather pathetic if you ask me, Its not like i wanted to take advantage of the combat system like that, but at nightmare difficulty even a fully specced out tank couldnt withstand bosses attacks long enough to defeat them.

Now the witcher on the otherhand. The higher difficulties just require you to think smarter, not resort to breaking the combat design.
