[PCW] L.A. Noire Causing PS3s and Xbox 360s to Overheat? - Page 2

lol, overheating?

Am i the only one who finds this totally unacceptable?

I don't game on any of the modern consoles (fortunately. With the long list of problems they suffer with i never will), but i sure as hell would be furious if a console i purchased overheated running games. It should have more then enough cooling to compensate for such things.

Just really shows how many corners Microsoft and Sony have cut with this generation.

....

and just gives me another reason to be a Nintendo fanboy tongue.gif, well, i would be if the Wii didn't target young children. Or suck.

*sigh*

Not that the PC platform is without it's flaws, but at least I can fix those.

I loaded the 3.61 firmware, and immediately right after inputting my "New" password for PSN my PS3 Bricked in the same fashion at the Cross Media Bar menu. Haven't played a game in over a month, and the new firmware killed it. 80G Fat.,

Oddly enough it was recently cleaned, with new TIM, and ran better than ever...until this update killed it. My conspiracy theory is that Sony is killing off all the old models on purpose tongue.gif

Having just finished the game last night.. what physics? Aside from knocking certain things over, I'm fairly certain all other physics effects are pre-scripted.

Anyways, I'm not entirely sure how they would port it for the PC, since finding clues involves having your controller vibrate. I guess extra audio cues might work, but whatever.

Great game, but terrible ending.

We already knew this gen's consoles are outdated and can't handle games as well anymore. I hope we don't have to wait much longer for new ones!

I hope consoles don't get released anymore!!!

Rockstar Says Reports of L.A. Noire Locking Up Xbox 360s Are ‘Categorically Untrue’
Quote:
Rockstar Games has been unable to replicate any Xbox 360 lock-ups while running L.A. Noire, calling any reports that blame the label's hot new game for 360 freezes as "categorically untrue."

Rockstar No Longer Blaming PlayStation Firmware for Rare L.A. Noire PS3 Overheating
Quote:
After sending mixed signals last night that PlayStation 3 firmware 3.61 was causing some PS3s to overheat while running L.A. Noire, Rockstar Games said today that the firmware isn't the culprit.
Quote:
At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat.

Old consoles beginning to struggle under 3-4+ year age? That sounds more likely.

Also it may be the Encryption Sony is using on the Hard Drives similar to Checkpoint for PC's, and how their update is heavily CPU intensive as well.

Hmm sorta reminds me of how my Fan wasn't set with the correct config in my original GTX590 Drivers....Oh those bastards!!! SONY killed my 80G Fat befoe it's time.

Nice purge of the older consoles...I had recently cleaned it and applied new TIM, and the system ran flawless with Wipeout HD for HOURS with no stuttering or lockups.

Then I installed 3.61 firmware after a 3 week layoff.
- set the Update to turn unit off after update installed.
- I watched it install and turn off automatically
- 2 hours later turn it on and while still in the XMB Menu went to change my PSN password to a new one as Required since "Sonygate"

As soon as I entered my PW, the system shutdown, and beeped 3 times, with a constantly blinking Red Light (RLOD). An additional press of the power button makes the light solid red.(Off)

Pressing the power button, the unit turns on , you hear the Fan, then boom, shutdown straight to blinking RLOD.

I'm done with Sony.
