Help with overclocking to 1866mhz

Thread Starter
So I recently purchased a MB ASROCK|890FX DELUXE5 890FX AM3+ mobo, and it stated that it allowes up to 1866mhz rAm (oc) so then I went out and bought G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 1866mhz rAm, im figuring by default my mobo will put the ram at 1333mhz, so im wondering how on earth do I oc my ram to "its" default 1866mhz?

You can increase the memory mulitplier or increase your FSB speed from the default of 200MHz.

You'll have to see what options you have in your motherboard BIOS.

You will also have to manually enter the memory timings and operating voltage.

no need to increase fsb. the 890fx mobo will either have a memory multiplier option or will let you select the the speed manually. After selecting 1866mhz the bios may ask you to increase voltage. No need for that right now. first make sure that the latency values are correctly configured. then boot into windows and see if it is prime95 blend stable or not.

Go to OC Tweaker --> DRAM Frequency.
You may need to raise your FSB too, to reach 1866

those options will be in the bios settings. to open bios settings, press 'del' button a few times just after pressing the power button on your cabinet. smile.gif

You will need to increase the bus clock (sometimes simply termed FSB). The max memory multiplier on AM3 platforms is x8 which can run 1600Mhz. For 1600Mhz, you will not need to increase the base clock from 200Mhz, for anything past you will.
