Why on earth dont AMD cards have automatic game profiles?

What I am talking about is this,

With nvidia card I go to the control panel and see if the drivers detected my installed game. If they didnt then I manually locate it the .exe of the game and I now have a custom profile for this game. Sometimes it is done automatically and sometimes you have to locate the .exe file no big deal.

From now onwards I can put anything in that profile and it wont affect anything else. I can like put 16xAA on some old game and forget about it then, it will always run with 16xAA even after updating drivers and no other program will be effected by this.

With AMD there is no such thing, you have to constantly "activate" and "deactivate" profiles are you kidding me? We have to rely on third party programs to use automatic profiles and those programs may not even support the latest graphical features. Like when AMD launched MLAA, many people left them on universally(like the only solution with AMD) and were getting blurred browsing.

How can AMD devs be so lazy? I dont even "touch" the global settings in the nvidia control panel except for those I know I want to be applied to everything like very high quality filtering. But then for benchmarks I can just revert to default settings in their own profile so it wont affect my becnhmarks even if I fiddle with the universal settings.

Today so many games dont bother with AF for whatever reason and it needs to be manually put in. Then with many games the in-game vsync wont work. Then there are games with no AA and MLAA was designed for those games but how the hell is the user supposed to use them without automatic profiles? We dont want to use MLAA on everything!
Then there are older games which get a substantial boost with touching up the driver settings. Right now the following games are using custom settings in my drivers,
BC2
Braid
Crysis
Max payne
Max payne 2
NFS Hot pursuit

That's about half the games installed.

I really like the price performance of the 6950 and want to jump on the red side but this one thing really bothers me.

Profiles are generally for multi-GPU applications, not single GPU cards.

People with only AMD cards wont understand what I am saying. But I am sure there are people here who have used both and know exactly what I am talking about.

You can do something similar with the presets, it just doesn't work exactly the same way.

Because we've got Catalyst AI lol, plus there really arn't that many settings to
change even if you somehow needed to change any of them per game ( i don't see why you would), your just lazy lol, and yes, iv had plenty of nvidia gpu's, i don't really like the nvidia control panel, no OC/Fan control etc either, so your forced into using 3rd party software.

Catalyst AI wont automatically launch custom settings upon launching a game, you have to first launch the profile from the drivers and then "deactivate" it after playing a game or else they will continue to be applied to other games and applications.

Yes there are settings like AF in new games and both AA and AF in older games. Then some new games dont have built-in AA and nvidia drivers can force AA on some of them.
Then some DX10 titles like DMC4 dont have ambient occlusion built in but can be forced through the drivers. It's just much more flexibility for tweaking games.

It's good that there are OC settings in the CCC but it's only useful for those who only like to moderately overclock their cards. So if you really want to properly overclock your card you will have to use thrid party program anyways......you didnt sure get to 900Mhz with the CCC..

I know what your talking about. The catalyst only lets you force settings globally on every game you play so you'll have to adjust it each time you want to run different settings via the CCC. Nvidia's control panel actually lets you adjust these forced settings differently for each game you play, so you won't have to worry about forcing 8X AA on one game and wanting only 2X or 4X AA on another game. This isn't very useful for games that already have in-game settings, but I can see the frustration on games that don't have AA as a ingame setting.

Yeah, it's a pretty cool feature. My Civ 5 kept downclocking after cutscenes of leaders, gameplay became incredibly slow and had to keep saving/quitting then loading the game.
Rinse & repeat.

Thought I remembered being able to force performance clocks via NCP (forgot how to do it via RivaTuner, doh), loaded the .exe and set to performance all the time when the game's loaded. Sorted.

Did the same for Media Player Classic ages back when it kept downclocking when watching Anime's.

It really isn't bothersome to create a profile and corresponding hotkey.
Probably takes the same amount of time to create/activate a custom profile in both panels.

I don't see the problem.
