the odds on a bad cpu

Thread Starter
Last week my sig rig went to sleep and didnt wake up. I didnt the proper tests and called Gigabyte and they said to rma the board. So I sent it in and they called yesterday saying everything was fine and it was booting up from them. So I sent my 35 day old 990x to Intel to rma. My question is waht are the odds of my cpu going ou in 35 days?

Can't tell you in terms of probability, but **** happens. Manufacturing defect is probably to blame if the processor has indeed gone.

In my experience it's almost never the CPU, especially in the situation you are describing. CPU damage is usually physical damage or electrically damaged from excessive voltage.

But like 'nolonger' says "**** happens".

Figured he'd have tested memory/PSU/GPU before RMA'ing the processor.

Yeah tested everything. Sent mobo to Gigabyte, so now gotta see what Intel says. It sucks that when I finally get my pc together I have it for a month then its down for like three weeks :-( Oh well when I get it back up it will be worth it.

I know the feeling. Have had both my X58 boards out for RMA for the last month and one isn't gonna get repaired.
