Fable III Performance Problem

Thread Starter
I'm having problems getting decent performance on Fable 3 with crossfired 6870s. Wondered if anyone had any advice.

Using Radeonpro to override 30fps limit and run at 60fps (vsync disabled ingame), which works fine but enabling shadows (even on the lowest setting) causes serious slowdown (fps drops to mid 30s and becomes very choppy). If i disable shadows (all other settings maxed out) the game never drops below 60fps but looks a bit rubbish. Tried various profiles but can't seem to improve it.

Have you tried running with just one of your 6870s?

Yeah, i tried disabling crossfire and using just one GPU - same. It seems to have no problem at all with everything else maxed out but having shadows on anything other than off almost halves the framerate.

It may just be console portitis. (Code isn't optimized for PC, leads to crashes, bugs and low FPS)

Someone else with more Fable 3 experience might be of more help though.

Yep, the fact that the game is capped at 30fps gives that impression. Still seems odd that enabling any kind of shadows should have such a massive impact on performance. Maybe have to wait for a profile.

anyone figured out how to enable shadows without losing 20 fps?

Ive been tweaking for an hour now and at 1280x1024 very high settings my sig rig puts out 35-70 fps but if I turn on shadows it goes to 19fps minimum

I have been running fine after disabling vsync ingame. I did not pay attention to the FPS, but I will do so next time I fire up the game and post back. But I think I have everything maxed out.

I also have this weird low fps in fable 3. It seems that the render engine for the game is not at all optimized for the pc. Here I am with EVERYTHING set to lowest, nvidia settings put on default, window mode at 1080, a gtx560ti by PNY overclocked at 1000mhz and I STILL lose up to 30 frames just running around. What is the frackin deal?
