Ssd raid?

Thread Starter
Hey guys. I got a question.
I got a Vertex 2 SSD. I already have an Agility SSD. I was wondering how wise it would be to raid two different types of SSDs?
The Agility has 59GB and the Vertex 2 has 55GB so I would lose 4GB, but I don't think I would mind that much if the controller could use that extra space so it doesn't wear out faster. However we are talking about pairing an Indilinx and a Sandforce controller together.... thanks!

I think it would suck because if it works, then I think the Vertex 2 would be reduced to the speed of the Agility.

Both of the drives have TRIM, but I understand how the performance will be lowered. Oh well :/:/

But TRIM doesn't work in RAID mode.

WHAT that is stupid though maybe I can understand why you would lose TRIM support in RAID.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yea with RAIDed SSDs you lose TRIM, but most SSDs have native garbage collection anyway.

I've have 3 SSDs in RAID for about 6 months now and I've only noticed a slight decrease in performance from when they were brand new and clean.
