What if you got a 1GB version of the 6950? Like this one?

6950 1GB model is maybe around 10-15% quicker than a 6870. I have Gigabyte 1GB 6950 OC version. Was running that at max settings on most games at 1920x1200. I think a 6870 would do all right as well, with maybe a bit less AA/AF.

30fps?

For sure.

The 5870 still kicks the 6870's ass. I have an E6 edition and I can do anything with maximum settings and full AA/AF. Get that.
