Just Installed Intel SSD do I need Intel RST Service?

Hey there,

Last night I installed a Intel 320 Series 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) in my two day old Brand DELL Model Alienware M15x(m15x-472CSB) Part# m15x-472CSB.

I had a few issues most of it self imposed lol, and I seem to be down to 2 issues. The first is Intel Rapid Storage Service. Do I even need this program because I could not get the error Intel RST Service not running, downloaded the most updated version straight from intel and made sure it was enabled in task manager. The only way i got rid of it is when I uninstalled it. Totally lost on this any help is greatly apperciated.

My second issue is find the driver for the Ethernet Controller its still as a yellow ! by it in Device Manager. The driver ID is PCI\\VEN_8086&DEV_10EB&REV_06. Looked everywhere for this as well and nothing. Thanks guys for your support. Thought about posting this in a SSD section but seemed Intel specfic so i thought this would be ok. Take care all

You don't need to install the Intel Rapid Storage Service... but I wouldn't see why you wouldn't?

As for your Ethernet Controller... what does Windows exactly label it as?

I wouldn't because i am fairly certain its not even working or do anything for me all it says is Intel RST Service is not running...( on a icon in the menu bar ) and if i try to bring up the control panel it crashes every time...

As for the Ethernet Controller this is how it looks Its a drop down from Other Devices and all it says is Ethernet Controller.

Thanks for the response

Are you sure it just doesn't appear for the first few minutes of your startup? The service might take a while to load, so that's why when you click on it, it doesn't appear.
