Well it's either price per performance - AMD 6970 Crossfire. For most performance regardless of price GTX 580's SLI.

I side with performance, price not even taken into cosideration. If you can settle for second best then do it, if you can't, then shell out a bit more to be on top.

Howver either option is a great choice because they will play anything you throw at it easily today. So both choices are a win win.

In general the 580 beats the 6970 in a majority of games by 10 - 30% - add on a lightning and heavy overclocking, and the 580 is likely to beat the 6970 by even more.

Here you see what happens when you have too little VRAM available. CF 6950 beating 580 at minimun framrates is nothing but ridiculous and shows how poor 1.5GB really is.

6970 CF is a much better choice at your res.

GTX 580 isn't worth the premium price.

Cherry picked specs mean zero. Plus 500 mbs isn't that much of a gain remember is SLI or Crossfire VRM is mirrored.

Should be expecting more from a $500 card. The fact that it only managed a few more FPS than much cheaper card is sad. The 6970 is nearly the exact same performance and costs much less.

VRAM is also not a bottleneck in all games, but there certainly are games where this might become an issue. Hence why you saw 6950 CF actually beating 580 SLI at minimum FPS.

Better is better and some of us want better - not less. I'll give you that the AMD 6970 is less money and less better. Albiet by not much in some cases and in others it is. Some want better performance not price per performance. To each his own and you might want to also figure that out in your argument Stefy. No offense, I get it, and so should you.

Let me repeat what I said in prior post:

"Well it's either price per performance - AMD 6970 Crossfire. For most performance regardless of price GTX 580's SLI.

I side with performance, price not even taken into cosideration. If you can settle for second best then do it, if you can't, then shell out a bit more to be on top.

Then WHY does 580 SLI lose to 6950 CF at min FPS in several titles at 2560x1600? That's not better performance.

I understand what you're saying to an extent, but I cannot recommend 580 SLI at this res when it can't even beat 6950 CF sometimes and is sometimes SLIGHTLY (as in irrelevant) ahead of the 6970. Even loses now and then. Then it's not a great card and it's not worth the extra $200.

2x GTX 580= 6990 + 6970 in terms of price.

At 1080p, sure. At 2560x1600? Not going to happen.

What does the 6990+6970 have to do with this post? If your going to bring other cards into it then the GTX 580 3GB will pawn all above but is still irrelevant. And at higher res GTX 580 3GB is more vram for total of 6GB then the 6990+6970 2GB mirrored for total of 6GB, but now I'm being irrelevant to the OP. Now your trying to compare apples to oranges where it has nothing to do with the OP to make some point AMD is better than Nvidia again, that's your opinion btw.

You showed specs at 2560x1600 and I showed you where you were actually wrong at the same resolution. The end.
