3gb gtx580s.

You could get Tri-6970 for the price of dual 580. 580 SLI would be faster than 6970 CF if you can settle for a little less AA.

Now your trying to compare apples to oranges where it has nothing to do with the OP to make some point AMD is better than Nvidia again, that's your opinion btw.

You showed specs at 2560x1600 and I showed you where you were actually wrong at the same resolution. The end.
You didn't prove anything. You posted a single card benchmark showing a $330 card being just as fast a $500 card.

And yes, 6990 + 6970 is relevant. It costs the same as 580 SLI. When 580 SLI gets outperformed by 6950 CF it is nothing but sad. 580 should win in every scenario.

The fact it was single is irrelevant because VRM is mirrored.

I did prove it in more benches than you at the same high resolution. Again, I'll repeat your right price per performance the AMD 6970 is better. What about that did you not understand?

Again, if you want better performance regardless of price - the GTX 580 is better than the AMD 6970. End of story.

Want to know why it's irrelevant? Because just as you said earlier: this thread is about CF/SLI not single cards. Current gen of AMD cards scales better than their Nvidia counterparts. Meaning where the 6970 loses by small margins it will most likely perform better in a CF config, while the 580 will scale worse and perform worse.

In case you can't read or forgot:

Quote:
VRAM is also not a bottleneck in all games, but there certainly are games where this might become an issue. Hence why you saw 6950 CF actually beating 580 SLI at minimum FPS.
Sorry, but above 1080p, the GTX 580 simply isn't all that great. No one pays $200 extra for 1 FPS while losing where VRAM is important. So basically having a potential VRAM bottleneck. Considering the pricing differences, the 580 should be laughing at 6970 and 6950, yet it doesn't.

Look if you think that AMD 6970 crossfire is better than GTX 580 SLI you can think that, but your wrong, even with current scaling.

Thread Starter
I am still trying to decide. Of course gtx SLI 580 will be better in performance, but 6970CF prices are so tempting too and I will be only playing games in 2560 x 1600.
