Is my PSU faulty?

Thread Starter
Ok so I am just about to send me PSU back as faulty but i'm not sure.

I was having the problem where I would hang at the motherboard logo screen on a reboot. I had to reset the PSU with its rocker switch on the back and the system would boot fine.

Then it got worse, after resetting with the rocker switch my rig would receive no power and not turn on at all and I just unplugged the cord from the back of the PSU and left it for a bit and that worked but this all seems wrong to me.

Now there are 2 things which make me think it might not be faulty.
  1. I was running just my watercooling loop to clean it from the PSU and it took time to do some things so I was wondering if perhaps it just has delays for some tasks...?
  2. After taking apart my rig to put into another case I no longer get the problem of getting on the motherboard logo screen on reboot...

Yes the PSU is the one listed in my sig rig XFX 850W black edition and I paid $205 for it and it's going to have to be sent somewhere at my expense and then I will be without a PSU for my main rig until I get a PSU back and if it's not faulty it will still cost me about $50 for them to test and send back.

Any other details I should have included?

i would just snag a PSU tester and see if its faulty your self that way you save on shipping and testing and if it is broken you can send it back knowing its broken and if its not you save time and money and hassle but know its something in your PC
