-smp 5 for my setup? - Page 2

Thread Starter
BT5 is just so hot looking and nice compared to BT4!

I'll check to go install another OS later, anyways I can't fold alot for the next few months because my dad's GF had cancer and now has treatments and she's always home sleeping and noise bothers her.

Go native and your PPD will increase by a nice amount.
Actually, I tried both VM and native Linux and saw very little/no difference. Going from Windows to either is a pretty huge boost in ppd though (at least for my 2600k, not so much for the i7 920).

So using 5 cores is okay? If so I'll switch to 5 instead of 4 after this WU. I thought I read somewhere there were conflicts with that?

7 is also a prime number and it works perfectly, so I don't see why 5 would be a problem.

Okay I'll switch after this WU. Or can I switch to 5 right now or will it cause a conflict?

Okay thanks! I'll wait until this is done then. It's 62% I think I can be patient.

Also here to say SMP 5 works perfectly... I'm not home and the power went out to the X6 rig some how so I can't tell you how many PPD it cranks out.

Yup I switched over and it works good. I saw an extra 2-3k ppd increase so now its about 11K for me.
