I guess I will sometime.

Actually you know what I am going to completely disable all sound on my system (incl. onboard, sound card, AMD HDMI sound) and see if it still crashes.
Ah, you shouldn't worry that much about SSD write lifetime. If you encounter any big problems, just perform a secure erase to factory reset. At worst, the manufacturer should offer warranty support. I've had this new SSD since it was released about a month and a half ago and in that time I've already re-formatted about three times. But yeah, try disabling any and all sound to see if it still happens. I can bet it's something to do with sound.

If and when you do re-format, install Windows, the drivers, Windows updates and BFBC2 with manually updated Punkbuster (using pbsetup.exe). Try it like that and see (before you install any of your other software and games).

Mhmm, I too am having this problem. I no longer ask BFBC2 to remember my password because clearly it cannot.

Look to see if you have a program called Tuneup Utilities running somewhere. If so, stop it or uninstall it. I didn't even know I had it on mine till I read about it causing BC2 to crash. I stopped it from running with my Zonealarm and haven't had any problems since.

You have this problem waay more than it happens to me. I get this every now and then.. As in, maybe once a day or a couple of days. Sometimes it would stop in an endless loop of sound for a second or two and then crash to desktop, sometimes it would just completely stop with the image still on the screen and then crash to desktop after a few seconds ... or sometimes it would instantly crash to desktop.
What I do get more ofter however, is the regular stalls... as in the game would stall for a second or less (mostly) and get this loop of sound and then everythings back to normal and I can continue playing.

PS: if it helps, I'm always playing with Afterburner running with the OSD and Fraps running for the occasional recording.

Another issue I'm having is that every time I log in I have to re enter my password otherwise it wont.
How were you able to successfuly get Afterburner running without having it crash every 5 minutes?

Drivers for what? What version did you roll back to?

Cool, I will reformat sometime then. First I am going to try disabling all sound.

No trace of such program on my system.

To be fair, I can run BFBC2 with both MSI Afterburner 2.1.0 and GPU-Z 0.5.3
in the background as well. I'm not sure why some people cannot, though. I guess there isn't really a point to having them run in the background anyway as once MSI Afterburner applies the overclock, it'll remain until you yourself remove the overclock or reboot.

I tried this program earlier this month and have been having the exact same issues as the OP. There may be something to this. Unfortunately, the program is IMPOSSIBLE to uninstall from your computer. Traces of it remain everywhere you look after a system uninstall.

I recently installed 2x GTX580's in SLI and thought that may have done it, I had them OC'd to 940hz, so I turned down my CPU and GPU OCs. That changed nothing. Sometimes I get the sound bug crash, other times it is a BSOD

I have not tried the sample rate fix yet, but I have tried disabling my sound card and switching to video card HDMI sound with no effect.

I have tried downloading the latest 275 nvidia BETA drivers, and while it seemed to help, it did not resolve anything yet.

My clan is getting a little tired of me bugging out on the most powerful PC in the group. It makes me look like I don't know what I am doing and is a little embarrassing to re-join a squad 5 times in a round. Thank god for my SSD or my reset times would drive me crazy.

I have not experienced this problem, but hear me out -

EA Live Support has great compensation services. My copy of Crysis 2 would stop working and would always disconnect me from any online matches after 2 minutes of playing. So I went to EA Support, told them of my problem. They ran all the diagnostics they needed to run, and finally they were unable to resolve my problem, so they asked me if I wanted a free game as compensation for Crysis 2 multiplayer not working. Yeah, you read that right, any downloadable game on the EA Store, free. I asked for Dragon Age II (because they couldn't give me preorders, otherwise I would've picked Battlefield 3). Now this was during the time when EA has a promo where you get Mass Effect 2 for free if you owned a copy of Dragon Age II. So not only did I get DAII for free, I also got ME2 for free.

That experience didn't fix my Crysis 2 problem but I did get two free games in the process. Just my two cents. You should try the same and get compensated somehow for your troubles, although it most likely won't solve your Bad Company 2 issue.

Hm, could you send me a screenshot of all the processes in Task Manager so I could do a quick comparison? Since you are not having a GPU-utility-related issue and I am.

Wow, good on you. It's great to see such a large corporation like EA go out of their way for a single customer. I will contact EA support to see if they can do anything about my problem, but I'm not expecting a free game in compensation. All I really want is for this game to work as its intended.

i use to crash every 5-10 min(restart), tried everything you can imagine. i fixed it by closing aftertburner when BC2 is running. been working ever since.

Hmmm I've been having this, usually for me it crashes to desktop after about 10-30mins. I guess I'll try closing afterburner and see if that helps.
