I want to get a New Setup..Ive been reading alot of things. Esp with gaming at high resolutions.

I want the Best setup I can get under $600.

I oringally was dead set on a Asus DirectC CuII, becuase ive always been a fan of single card solutions, less heat, ability to upgrade.

But the issue I gues i VRAM usage....I do play metro 2033, and will get BF3 and i want to play with eye candy turned on.

Should I stick with single gtx 580 TFIII or Direct CU, I would only go 580 sli if there was a real good deal. I dont want to pay $1k for gpus.? and still only 1.5GB Ram. I dont like any of the current 3GB Cards. I like asus and msi.

( edit): Even if i was add a second 580 later. I'm still limited to 1.5gb v-ram regardless?
Or

GTX 560TI's 2GB SLI such as gainward. That puts me at under $600, plus i get 2GB Vram each card. and could overclock them still. But will they run out of horsepower for the 2560x1400?

or any other suggestions?

Sell your 470 and get a 6990 or 590. Or you could CF 6950s and possibly unlock them.

Ok. Whatever. The 580 is the better choice because you can always grab another at a later date, and you won't have to screw with multi card (at least in the beginning).

Yah...But say i get a 1.5GB Card..........even if get another 580 later. I'm still limited to 1.5gb v-ram? And apparently there are games that can use more than 1.5 with eye candy turned up at high res, such as metro 2033...Thats the problem

Ok, then get the 3GB version of the 580. Not really seeing a problem. But yes, your vram will be mirrored rather than combined.

The Palit card is alright. Personally I would probably go with the EVGA card because of the experience I have had with their CS. Are you planning to water cool these in the future, or what?
EVGA 3gb, or the MSI 3gb Xtreme that is coming out.

From my experience, they actually give very playable results at this res. I pull ~40fps in Metro and DA2 with DoF enabled, and those are 2 of the most demanding games I own atm. I push ~50 in Crysis Warhead, 60+ in Crysis 2 and this is just with my cards at 950 core.

If you get lucky and grab a couple that can do 1GHz or more, you'll be on easy street.

Considering the price difference, IMO the 2G 560s is a better option. They scale well (over 90% in some cases) and in SLI they can be up to 40% faster than a single 580 in some titles. Plus in this case they have more VRAM headroom.

Of course, if money is no concern, SLI 3GB 580s is the best thing out there atm.
