If your looking for the best bang for your buck, your not going to get it from Nvidia. A 6950 smashes a 560ti, both in horsepower, and scaling. Two of those in crossfire meets your budget. Other wise if your going to be hardheaded, the only other choice is the 580 gtx lightning.

If you do not plan on upgrading in the future, go with the GTX 560 SLI. Together they'll give you more rendering power than a single GTX 580 and the 2gb RAM will definitely help you out more than the 1.5gb on the 580.

If you think you'll want more horsepower in the future without having to sell your current card, go with the 580 obviously.

I can totally understand why you'd want to stay with Nvidia. There are those who wouldn't want nothing but an AMD it's a preference and I can respect that, and why you posted on the Nvidia threads.

I'd go the GTX 560ti 2GB versions SLI and you will have a really good setup. Awesome in fact. I know you said you wouldn't be over clocking but in a few years when gaming catches up perhaps you can over clock and get ahead again giving yourself most likely another year. They over clock like beasts btw. You can push 30% more from both your cards down the road should you so choose.

The best bang-for-buck option by far is to get another 470. Even at the resolution you're talking about, 98% of the time SLI 470's will work great at that res. There's a few games out there you might have to sacrifice a bit of AA, but you'd probably be surprised how infrequently you'd actually have to do so. The other options involve spending a lot more money just so that once in blue moon you wouldn't have to settle for 2xAA instead of 8xAA. To me it seems a bit silly, but to each their own.

Of these two options you're asking about, personally I'd go with two 560 2gb cards ... but a decent case could be made for the 580 3GB I suppose.

Thread Starter
My first Video Card was an ATI his 4670. It was a good card, but i just like intel and nvidia better. Ive had nvidia cards since then and have had no issues. I dunno why, but i just want to stay nvidia.

With no side panel fan on my haf 932 black edition, and hopefully getting a corsair h100, top mounting it and thus loosing my top exhuast 230mm. I dont want my case to get too hot. MY Single 470 is already hot enough @ stock level. So i'd like 500 Series Card becuase they run cooler and have more OC headroom.

The choice is now between SLI 560Ti 2GB Cards, which only palit or gainward sell (i have no exp from either of those two companies) or the MSI Lightning GTX 580 3GB.

I think im probaly going to get the 580, so i dont have to deal with sli for the moment. I Plan on OC'ing my whole system and will prob OC the video card as well (MSI Afterburner, 900-1000 mhz?) I think it will run everything I need it to. Even at 2560x1400.

Metro 2033 actually runs playable even at high settings, AA on, physicx on with my current system, all stock levels

And IF I OC my whole system, and the 580 GTX 3GB. I think it will be fine for me.

Plus by the time BF3 rolls out, i cud try to find another 580 for a deal if I really want it. or Sell the single 580 for a 600 Series Kepler card as well.

I think the 580 Lightning 3Gb will be a good option unless it's like $650, and I'd imagine it being $600 or $625. At least wait until it comes out and see what it offers.

the 580 should be sufficient for everything else except for metro and crysis. in metro, don't turn on MSAA and advanced DOF. in crysis, leave AA off. you should be ok.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-580-review/16
you'll get slightly higher fps since ur res is slightly lower. again, turn off antialiasing. if enthusiast is too laggy, turn down to gamer.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...i-sli-review/7
if the 580 can't get playable fps, then the 560 ti SLI probably won't be much higher.

EDIT: if u want absolute maxed out settings in all games though,
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...0-sli-review/9
only 580 SLI will deliver in crysis and metro.
