Just wanted to bump this to get more opinions! I've pretty much decided against the Atrix since I really don't need the accessories and I think they are a big part of the 'hype'.

I'm pretty sold on the HTC Inspire since I can get it for $30, and AmazonWireless has a 30 day return policy. I know it has less internal storage, but it comes with an 8GB microSD card, and I had bought one myself for my Captivate, so I'll have backup storage as well. I've been watching reviews for it and I'm pretty happy with the looks of it, as well as some of the awesome widgets and customization it offers.

I plan on stopping at an AT&T store today to play with the Inspire, and possibly see if AT&T can make me an offer I can't refuse.

So anyways, just a bump to put it at the top!

No point really, especially if it isn't a free upgrade. Just wait until your contract finishes then switch, not all that much is gonna happen over the next year in the mobile phone world

this
btw, have you tried the new gingerbread ROM's or CM7 nightly's for your captivate?

they rock

I"m rocking CM7 Nightly #13 paired with the platypus kernel is blazing fast, smooth, awesome battery life with the addition of voodoo display really makes the SAMOLED screen "pop" with even more vibrant colours!

Yeah but $30 is ALMOST free! Maybe it's just me having an 'upgrade' itch.

I've actually been running Cognition 4.3 for my Captivate and I do love it. There have been a couple of black screens where I had to pull the battery to restart the phone, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. Like I said above, it's probably just me wanting to upgrade SOMETHING.

But looking at the reviews of the Inspire, it has a faster Linpack, as well as Quadrant out of the box. The larger screen would be a nice touch as well, and I like the customization that the Sense UI seems to offer. I actually just watched some of a video with the Inspire running the MIUI rom and it looked sweet!

So, I'm still gonna go to the AT&T store and get a hands on with the Inspire, but I'll be browsing around XDA as well, and maybe try a few different roms on my Captivate.

you americans only think of the upfront cost... what about the plan price increase? Nonetheless, I don't see the point, its only a small upgrade. You should only switch if your extremely disatisfied with what you have now(which it seems you don't have any problem with).

It would change absolutely nothing for me as far as plans go. I already have the 200MB data plan, and 1000 txt messages a month. It would cost me absolutely nothing to get it, since I just saw that BestBuy has it for $0.00, and I could pick it up in store.

faster linpack doesn't = smoother phone
same for quadrant.....btw, quadrant favors qualcomn SoC phones

.....IMO, just wait for the SGSII or something newer

too late to "side grade" to another phoen at this time

No, because I'm not exiting. I'm due for an upgrade, I'm just not going through AT&T to get it.
