If that is a BD chip at stock, it's a pretty good one. Here's my Cinebench score running 4.25 GHz... just a hair higher at 7.43

Please explain how SB is not completely new. They been working on Sandy Bridge since 2005 and Nehalem since 2003. Oddly enough the same amount of time from their release date. They may share similarities but they are all completely different. Core 2 and the core i7 900 series both share a north bridge that serve the same function (except memory) but they are completely different. Sandy Bridge and Lynnfield share DMI, yet the architecture is completely different.

If I recall correctly, the Nehalem from 2003 is not the Nehalem we have now, the Nehalem from 2003 was actually a successor to Tejas, which was Prescotts successor before Intel realized the 10Ghz dream wasn't possible, they altered it to fit with the new "More cores is better" stuff going on rather than "Mhz ftw".

And SB, iirc, was still barely in the conception stage until well and truly after Core 2 was made.

AMD has said 50% more out put for 33% more cores for the server models comparing to last gen. Since opteron is basically the same architecture as Phenom, this applies to the client too.

A stock Phenom II X6 @ 3.2Ghz gets 5.6 in cinebench 11.5.

So, 5.6 / 3 = 1.86 + 5.6 = 7.46 for an "8 core Phenom II"

Apply the 50% for new architecture..

7.46 / 2 = 3.73 + 7.46 = 11.2

Round down for scaling, i'm expecting a Cinebench score of at least 10 - 10.5

You forgot AVX and the Ringbus

The transition between BD and K8 will be larger though. It will be something like Core vs Netburst architecture wise from what I've heard/read. SB and Nehalem aren't like that at all.

I'm willing to bet that 50% figure is not directly relevant to client side. You have to remember that number was comparing a 16 core MCM VS a 12 core MCM, There is a lot of room for improvement that DOESN'T translate to a single chip non-server part. Stuff like inter-chip bandwidth, memory sharing, cache snooping, ETC are all things that don't really matter for an 8 core desktop chip, but could make a huge difference in server environments with 4-8 cpus in one system. I am expecting almost no improvement in per-core clock for clock performance. BD will get most of its advantage over PII with higher clocks, and more cores(SSE5 and AVX will help too). The main point with BD for AMD is to improve die efficiency, performance improvements are just a side effect.

Which is what I mean, whereas SB and Nehalem were more extreme tweaking (Eg. Athlon64 to Thuban), this is completely new and not the same in many ways at all. (eg. Netburst to Conroe)
