[WCCF] AMD Bulldozer (Zambezi-FX) CPU Performance Exposed, Beats i7 2600K in CineBenc - Page 17

Even if BD turns out to be a better performer than SB, I won't be disappointed in my chip all of the sudden. My i7 will still be a smoking fast processor regardless of what AMD is doing. I'm just glad we have two competitive manufacturers pushing each other....
it'll all be about bang for buck. amd has been killing in the budget sector. they got great chips with great performance for dirt cheap compared to their intel counterpart. so as long as they keep that up..this will be a success.

I am rooting for AMD, they have been behind in the processor market for awhile. Don't get me wrong, for a budget build be it for gaming, multitasking etc it is still an amazing choice. Intel is always a step ahead, they probably will be in architecture for years to come. However if AMD can still keep closing in, they will always have a market. Price vs Performance they really are hard to beat. Especially for a broke college kid =)

Exactly.

This is what we should all be thinking/saying, SB is a fast chip no matter how you spin it, as is Nehalem, Phenom II, etc.

If this score is for the 8 core. Then this means that Bulldozer is going to be slightly faster than than i7 2600 in multi-threaded application that scales very well with more cores (like cinebench)

In the other words, i7 2600 is going to be better overall. If you go and check any review you would notice that i7 2600 can beat i7 980X/990X in about half of the benchmarks (and Gulftown scored better than Bulldozer in cinebench).

i think even if BD are on par performance wise with the i7/i5 counterparts they will be considered a success. im not expecting BD to come and blow intel out of the water cause well i just dont think it'll play that way. if they can offer similar performance for a cheaper price point that's going to be a win for AMD. looking forward to it either way

Can I just say, that AMD's history is irrelevent. Bulldozer is properly innovative, like the Pentium was to the i486 (superscalar) and the Pentium Pro was to the original Pentium (out-of-order execution). And, to a lesser extent, MMX, when it seperated off some FP instructions into their own registers for the first time. Or when shaders came out on GPUs.

If Bulldozer is that good, I think you'll see Intel stealing that idea in a couple of years (just like the IMC)

I don't care about multi-core benchmarks.. a 6/8 core BD SHOULD be faster than a 4 core SB.
Where are the leaked single core benchmarks?

Wow, for you and all the rest thats saying this is the 8 core.
The source says that it was either an 6 or 8 core and when going by a statement that AMD made saying that a single bulldozer module with 2 int cores is faster than a Phenom II dual-core, it simply cant be the 8-core model unless it was running at like 2 GHz.

If you divide the score by 8 you get 0,921 for each core.
Take a 1100T Thuban and divide its stock score (roughly 5,9) by 6 and you get 0,983 which means that Thuban would be faster core for core which simply contradicts what AMD has said.

Based on this, it can only be the 6-core score which would be even perfectly reasonable since it would mean that BD is ~25% faster than thuban core for core and would back up the statement AMD has made.

Of course this may aswell be the 8 core running with super low clocks as already mentioned; but then cant be taken as reference to how the real one will perform.

Whatever though, might as well just be fake
