Help me upgrade!

Thread Starter
Okay this is my current pc, bought from cyberpower about a year and a half ago.

[CPU] AMD X2 7750 2.7ghz
[HDD] 500 GB SATA II 3.0 GB 16mb 7200rpm
[RM] 1G DDR2 PC6400
[OS] Windows vista home premium
[GC] Sparkle nvidia 9500gt 1gb pci-e
[PS] 580w
[MB] Asus m3a76-cm amd 760g am2+ mb

It doesn't like very many newer games, what would be the best thing to start with upgrading or am I better off with a new pc??
Thanks for all the help in advance!
I would say getting an entirely new PC would be much better.

my opinion is you would be better off with a new pc....
get a sandy bridge mobo and cpu deal form microcenter... comes out next week
and go for a 560 or 570
the hdd is fine if you want to upgrade get an ssd

any more questions dont hesitate to send me a pm

Agree with the above, your hardware is a few generations behind so not worth updating. What's your budget? If you can afford to get a decent P67 board along with an i5 2500/2500k, 4 gigs of DDR3 and a GTX570 it'll be more than sufficient to play all the latest games. What's the brand and model of that power supply? You might still be able to use it in your new build depending on brand/model.

Yup, a new pc would be the way to go. If you can sell that computer, i'd do that and put the money towards a new computer.

I was thinking of about a $1k-$1.5k budget.
This thing will play anything you will throw at it, fantastically.

CPU: Intel i5 2500k: $225
Motherboard: ASRock P67 EXTREME4 : $160
RAM: 2 x G.SKILL 4GB: $96
GPU: 2 x MSI R6950: $540
SSD: Crucial RealSSD C300: $150
HHD: Samsung 1TB F3 Spinpoint: $55
DVD Drive: Samsung SH-S223C DVD+RW Drive: $20
Case:CM HAF 912:$60 or any other case you want
PSU: Noctua NH-D14: $90

Total: $1432

If this is a bit too much, you can only buy one GPU at the start and then another later (that'll save you $270 initially). You can also not get an SSD (though I highly recommend that you do).

This may be a dumb question, but would that all fit in a fragbox size case?
If you want to fit it all in a fragbox you'll need a micro-ATX motherboard. Something like the Asus P8P67-M Pro will be fine.

Nope, it would not. You need at least a mid-tower.
