Safest method of unlocking extra shader units in HD6950?

Your advice will be much appreciated

While researching for my own gpu upgrade i researched on this quite a bit. This is what i found out. Flashing a 6950 with 6970 bios is not recommended because it increases the default voltage of vram. This may damage the card. So, the first method is the safest one.
