6950 reference or Twin Frozr III - Page 4

Glad I got my reference cards when I did !
Best part is full cover water blocks are available only for the reference PCB.

Kung pow, you got any source where you found current reference designs are NOT unlocking?

Actually there are blocks for brands that stick to AMD's revised reference design. It's cards like the Lightning and TF3 that are crap out of luck. 6950 revised = 6870 block, and 6970 revised = ek v2 block.

full coverage blocks are not for everyone anyhow.. they are ridiculously priced and only good for 1x GPU.

I have 3x MCW60's in loop at all times, and can change any of my GPU's at anytime, with no break down.

^^^to me thats worth more than a full coverage block.

AMD has stated and I quote "There will be precautionary measures taken to inhibit our customers from performing the unlock"

You can bet that nearly every new badge of 6950´s is laser cut regardless of ref or non ref.

Unlocking has just too many risks for what you get.
AMD wants to prevent people from doing it because even themselves don´t know the causes or possible damage that could be inflicted.

Also too many noobs flash brick their cards and AMD does not intend to refund or replace those cards in any way.

this is clearly an opinion not based on facts.

what are the risks associated with flashing an original known reference dual bios cards with shaders? please provide a source that there are "many risks"

anyone who looks at your sig rig can see that clearly you side with the TFIII, but no need to start stating opinions as facts.

Noob, I clearly stated possible risks of damage or unproper operation because we do not know the long term affects yet.

Nobody is absolutely aware of the affects and influences inflicted by the unlock.

I don´t have a side lol?

And please stop emphesiting reference when regarding to the unlock
You need to inform yourself sufficiently and not just repeat and suck everything up you read in some uneducated posts.

It is not an oppinion that unknown consequences can be bad ?
Please post again when you are aware of all the facts regarding the unlock!

I asked for a source, I got namecalling.

all of the "affects, influences, and consequences" you suggest can come from the shader unlock (which to this point have not been proven) are all more likely to come from overclocking the card which is what you initially suggested.

There you have it lol?
Are you ignorant or did you miss it?
I don´t need a source to tell you that therefore could be bad consequences corresponding with something you can´t percept what is going to happen?

It is not namecalling because you are obviously a noob and don´t understand the materia enough to be able to engage a serious discussion with me about this subject.

Overclocking can be controlled , contained, predicted and most importantly monitored.

Overlocking is almost a science.

You can´t compare that to a BIOS mostly written by third parties meant to perform an unintended BIOS flash in order to upgrade a card which was intentionally downgraded by the manufacturer and effectively prohibited by them either.

The unlock has no long term affect studies , is there unpredictable and in my oppinon due to that not safe because there is a possibility of damage or unproper operation.

Of course that is also the case with an overclock but it can be tested , controlled and measured in order to prevent and decimate the possibility of damage.

So please I don´t want to offend you really , it is not a crime to be insufficiently informed but please don´t get smart on me ok?

Get some info about the unlock and understand what it is all about.
