Do you mean to replace the HDD or just as an addition to load the OS onto ?

What do you plan to use it for?

If it it just gaming, then you only need an i5 2500k.

The benefits of the 2600k only show themselves in heavily threaded applications

addition to load OS smile.gif So you can like make backup and something like that for the HDD and an OS and games and programs and things like that into SSD, so it will make your computer faster for Starting PC, opening programs and if you play games, levels will be loaded much faster and yeah for SSD i would suggest 120GB OCZ Vertex 3. I am going to build a better PC for myself when the new motherboards come out with the new chipsets. smile.gif

SSD is being considered but i am thinking about just using HDD for the OS and maybe installing a SSD later for games and programs.... Its not as important that it loads fast more that it performs when its up there...

Well the industry standards for 3D modelling are 3DS max and Maya.

I work on game content and other programs would be things like mudbox/Zbrush, these are sculpting programs.

a free program which you could try out is blender, this can do all the basics - modelling/lighting/animating/rendering etc. So it would be a good place for you to start if you cant get your hands on 3ds max or maya.

But good luck, working with 3D is a great experience if you stick at it
