Best 2-4 Port PCI-e SATA Expansion Card - Page 2

OMG, Thanks. That's some very compelling information, and a direction my narrow mind had not even considered. I will definitely keep that option in mind.

For me it was decision time and I had read more than enough reviews to know that everybody disses every card probably because of controller incompatibilities.

For better or worse, then, I decided on:

"Syba PCI Express SATA II 4 x Ports RAID Controller Card SY-PEX40008"

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Express-Ports-Controller-SY-PEX40008/dp/B002R0DZWQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1306208226&sr=8-2"]http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Express-Ports-Controller-SY-PEX40008/dp/B002R0DZWQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1306208226&sr=8-2[/ame]

If you think I really messed up, please don't spare my feelings. Just please tell me why or for what reason my decision is unsound.

Thank you, thefreeaccount, for your time and advice. Good to have you at OCN. cheers.gif

That card is PCIe 1.0 1x, which means it has theoretical max transfer rate of 250MB/s, or 60MB/s per drive if all four are used at the same time. In practice the actual cap will be a bit lower.

It's very expensive for what you get, but if that's good enough for you, I see no reason to avoid it. Flash it with the non-raid bios and it should work fine.
