Seasonic X850 / Asus P8P67 Deluxe power cabling

I'm working on a new build and am unsure of the power cabling between the Seasonic X850 and Asus P8P67 Deluxe. From what I understand, I need both the 24pin and 8pin connections plugged in on the mobo. The PSU comes with a cable that is 24pin on one end and Y-splits into a 24 and an 8 pin connector on the other. It also has a cable labeled CPU that is an 8pin on one side and an 8pin in a 12pin connector on the other.

Do I plug in both the 24 and 8 pin connectors on the Y cable to the PSU as well as the separate 8 to 8? Or just the 24pin on the Y and then the 8pin on the other cable?

On a separate note, does anyone know if the Seasonic PSU fan should be pointing into or out of the case?

Hope that all makes sense...

I think you mean 20+4 pin rather than 24 + 8. IIRC your PSU is modular which is where you are getting cables with plugs on both ends. The 20+4 and the 8 pin go into the mobo. the other ends are the part that plug into the psu

Thanks for the response. When you say 20+4 do you mean they're separate connectors? This PSU actually does have a cable with both a 24 pin connector and an 8 pin connector on the Y end of the cable with a 24 pin on the other end. Is that unusual? You are corect, it is a modular PSU. Additionally, there is the other cable that is 8 pin on one end and has a 12 pin connector with only 8 pins in it on the other.

There's no way for the Y end of the cable to plug into both 8 and 24 pin connections on the mobo as they're on opposite sides and the Y split is only an inch or two long. So I'm still a bit uncertain...

I think I may have figured it out - if anyone sees a problem, please let me know:

I need to plug in both the 24 and 8 pin connectors on the Y cable to the PSU "motherboard" ports, and additionally plug in the 8 pin to 8 pin CPU cable. I originally missed that there was an 8 to 4+4 cable in there, so am now using that for CPU power. Is that cable ok to use even though it's not the one labeled CPU? The 8 pin to 8 pin in a 12 pin connector just doesn't work with the Asus board as far as I can tell...
