Audigy 2 vs ALC888

Thread Starter
Question guys. I built a PC for my girl with my old mobo and ram. What I'm wondering is would it be worth it to install a 9 nine year old Audigy 2 or just rely on the onboard ALC888? I just recently discovered the joy of dedicated sound recently with my Xonar DG. But the DG isn't that old.
Opinions?

BTW, if I choose to install it, I'll need to find her a
pci-e wireless card to free up the pci slot that's occupied by a pci wifi card. She needs a new wifi card anyways; the antenna is screwed up on the one she has.

It´s getting on. but the Audigy 2 is stil a descent all round card for music and games.
Mine´s survived three complete upgrades and I feel It still outperforms any onboard ALC.
Besides you said it yourself ,

I'm only working with a basic 2.1 speaker set. Nothing fancy.

Remember you can get hacked xfi drivers for the audigy 2.

I use one on a 2.1 setup and it works a treat, owns my on board sound.

^+1 The Danny K drivers. Search for the Danny k drivers. Creative known for cutting things out through their drivers.
Otherwise buy your girl some new shoes and get the DG if you got headphones.

heres a wi fi solution for your problem $13
