I just went for the next best thing. I needed the 3gb, and the EVGA can use standard 580 waterblocks. to them it was comparatively a $60 cheaper card, soo.... go me!

thanks to the OP of the Amazon deal.

Did they do $379 each? I've been waiting for the Lightning XE to come in stock but I just dont think it ever will. I've got the origional PM noted on my account.

I was given 2 deals, so I gave up on the XE. Besides, I wanted to WC. I doubt they ever will get them, apparently they are a limited quantity item.

Congrats on the deal. How much of a hassle did you have to go through to get a CS person to ok your deal?

Lol, 6 weeks of
"Just thought I'd see how things are going" and
"Well I still don't have a complete PC, any change in 580 Lightning stock?"
"Well, not since I checked, but we can't do anything till we wait 6 weeks, cross your fingers!"

I made mental notes of all the little technicalities of what they said each time. Mainly words like "resolve" "substitute" and "price match". Oh yeah, and "you may purchase more than one if there is sufficient stock and no quantity limits"

That last one was important since I had only ordered one lightning in the beginning. I kinda kissed their ___ when I talked to them, and stayed on as long as I could with anyone using trigger words or seeming like they may help, but I also got off the phone ASAP when a rep was acting leery or repetitive. I didn't want one to just close my notes and label them resolved, and I also didn't want to hear their policy copypasta.

At this point I kinda want to work for them. I know enough of their system now to take my BA and be a CSR Manager, like it was 6 weeks of training.

Are Australians able to get the Amazon deals in the US?

So my $700 Tron cards just arrived by UPS! 2x EVGA 3072MB GTX 580's to complete my surround build. I probably could have got a pair of 580 Lightning XE's, but Amazon never carried them.

I noticed that EVGA didn't make new boxes for the 3GB model, they just put a sticker over the 1.5GB logo on the top. I'm guessing it has to do with how they are still a reference design and can use reference waterblocks, etc. That's the main reason I wanted one vs Palit or zotac.

Thank you, Amazon, I think this concludes our business together, as I got 4 cards at nearly half price. I think I'll be good until the second generation of Kepler is out.

Well I finally got my 2 MSI 580 Lightning cards from my old pricematch. Both cards for $379 each. I was wanting the XE's but they never came in stock on Amazon and I noticed they had the 580 Lightning in stock on Amazon so I pulled the trigger. One easy chat with Amazon CS. Now time to retire my old EVGA 285 FTW card.

Nice. Those will be quite the pair in SLI.

Thanks. So if anyone has an old pm for that price you can still get it honored.

They sure are. Too bad I didn't get mine for $750...
