It's terrible that so many folks openly panhandle without a cause in this forum. What's worse is that none of these beggars provides a single reason why you should sell those two cards to them. I, on the other hand, operate an Eyefinity 6 orphanage. Currently I tend to one lonely orphan which is seeking its lost triblicate siblings. As the net's sole registered fish proctolojest I am qualifried to cure your 5780 scaling problem.

I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask.
Yes there is one thing HD5870's do better than ANY other card in existance...but we are no longer allowed to talk about it. (thanks mods)

Actually I thought the 5850 is known for the best ____/price ratio.

They can make you a sammich!

Or at least maybe grill it, although i really would suggest 480s for grilling

Having a 2600k and having had 6950s, I feel like I've already been to the max performance, and that sometimes the amount of performance doesn't define a PC. So I could really care less about a 30% loss in GPU power. I can still OC them to 1GHz, which is mainly just for fun. Don't get me wrong, I still want to make sure I can max out all games. So I guess I'll just stick with my 70% scaling then.

Also, Jedix, don't 480s scale and perform better than 5870s under SLI and single?
Snelan, Im in the same boat as you, had 2 ref 6950's and sold em for the 480's. They worked great but are SUPER hot power hogs, I dont recommended them. 10.7 has 570 drivers but I personally wanted cards with more ram so i can power 3 monitors.

I know, been there, done that. I had a single 480 and it was insanely hot. 100c at 850MHz. It helped once I put it under water though, they respond well to that.

So I decided that the 5870s would be the best for OSX, I knew they would work, and there was a lot of support for them.

EDIT: Not to say that the 480s are bad cards, under water they OC well and scale perfectly. They are actually pretty great!

That is true, but since he already HAS an HD5870 it will be better than my HD5850, but i fi were to buy a card to do what we shall not talk about i would go for an HD5850 cuz theyre so precariously priced in a position between perfection and plethoras of points.

PM me for more info on how to do what shall not be done.
