Do these all work together?

Thread Starter
I was wondering if all these parts will work together.

Mobo:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0351634

CPU:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0325874

Ram (Already Purchased):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220567

Graphics Card:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=P450-5857

I was wondering if I would be able to get 1600 ddr3 to work on that motherboard. On the Micro Center page it says nothing about it. But on the geeks.com page, it says I can do it.

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=A780L3G&cat=MBB

If you are wondering why I am using this board it is because I am going to be purchasing it off of this combo deal.

http://www.microcenter.com/specials/...ndlePROMO.html

I need to get a combo with that cpu with a MicroATX Motherboard that will work with it.

Thanks!

I don't think this cheapo 3+1 phase mobo is good for that CPU... Just make sure you don't ever OC it and maybe it'll be fine.

Get the 560 + Gigabyte 760G mATX for $100. That board can unlock 560 to quad.

Well then is there another motherboard there that you would recommend?

It has to be mATX though...

I honestly don't want to overclock anything but the motherboard at first (just for the 1600 ram if it doesn't accept it without going into the bios) because this is my first build. Plus this is a gaming computer, so I want to get most frames. I know you can unlock it, but I don't want to spend the extra money on the cooler right now. I might overclock the quad core I"m going to get in the future though.

You can unlock the dormant cores to make it a quad with a different mobo

So will the Phenom ii x4 965 work with the Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 AM3 760G? I don't want to overclock my processor immediatley...

Another question about that motherboard, would there be a way to get 1600 ram to work on it? I already purchased the ram. Or is there a way so that the bios will pick it up and I can underclock it so that it will run on the computer?

Biostar are not famous for high-quality VRMs, still if it HAS to be Biostar mATX, this is about the only mobo that would be able to safely overclock your CPU without setting the house on fire:

TA890GXE (RCH)

If you're looking for cheap high-quality mATX, see the Asus and Gigabyte boards, they're way better.

Here is a thread that shows it all:

Yeah but I wasn't talking about a BIOSTAR MoBo. It just happened to be on that bundles page. I was wondering which motherboard would be safe to overclock to work with ddr3 1600 ram on that bundle page and works with the Phenom ii x4 965 that is mATX. If I can't overclock the processor, I honestly don't care, because if I was going to overclock it, I probably wouldn't have gone very far with it anyway.

Ronnin is right. It's probably better to go w/Asus or Gigabyte. Essentially, any AM3 MOBO will work w/that CPU as long as it supports 125W. Honestly, I dont know why you bought that RAM. Hopefully you paid less than $35 for it, because that's how much you could have gotten G.Skill Ripjaws of the same speed for.

Regardless, it really doesn't matter if the MOBO can run it at 1600 or not. You can always tighten the timings to make a 1333 run the same as 1600.
