Hi All

Making a lite gaming rig for my mate, he'll play most modernish games, like CODs, Boarderlands, Battlefield, etc etc...

This is the list I have sent him so far... We are in NZ so these are NZ dollars, can you guys check it over and make adjustments if required.

There are a few motherboards around this price, this looks the best of the bunch but Ill keep researching up until the time so we get the best one available.

RAM
A-Ram 2x2gb DDR3 1600 CL9 $75
Quite similar to my ram but a crapper brand lol.

Graphics
Sapphire HD5770 1gb $185
Sadly these prices havent shifted much, this is the same card as Caley has.

Case
Cheapo Case with Power Supply $70 (http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=876905 or http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=848643 both are essentially the same just look different)

Hard Drive
1tb $85

DVD
LG $35
Basic DVD burner/reader

Monitor
LG 22" Flat Screen 1920x1080 $205
This is slightly better than my screen but the same size.

Keyboard n Mouse
Wireless KnM $30

Wireless Internet Connector
$20 there are heaps of them for around this price.
I would still prefer using a cable which would mean you wouldnt need this, but dont know if cable is possible in your flat so yeah.

= $975
But if you guys can come up with a better build using that www.pricespy.co.nz site then by all means?

Your going to love it, trust me. We pretty much have the same build just different mobo and little things. I've never had any issues with any games on my 5770. Might want to shop around tho, for the price your getting the 5770, you could get a 6850 or 2 used 5770 for crossfire.

I wouldn't over-clock on it and does he really need 1Tb hdd? I mean I have 20Gb of pics and 40 Gb of music plus all my games and I don't even come close to 500 Gb. So maybe you could save alittle by getting a lower capacity hdd. Remember that your psu is very important to the life of your system. If it decides to go kaplooee, it could take other components with it (ie. motherboard, memory, cpu).

He most certainly wont be OCing... He is computer illiterate so no need to worry there.

Don't buy the 955 with that board... 125W with 3+1 phase never usually works properly!

What would I get in its place then? Either motherboard or CPU?
I would say the motherboard if you can, otherwise a CPU with lower 95W TDP would suffice.

What would you recommend around that price range on www.pricespy.co.nz ?

On the asus website it says 6 core ready... And lists the Phenom II x4 as compatiable?

I wouldn't trust my system to a no name power supply, it will come back at you in a bad way(even if you don't overclock). Paying a little extra up front now for a brand name PSU, can save cash and time wasted later on if it dies.
