VGA aftermarked Cooling void GPU warranty? - Page 2

Thread Starter

I watched this video:

While the video show a gtx470 it still illustrate that for sure the Evga fan case is removed together with the pretty label
and remplaced with the aftermarked fans....

Okey..not sure if i like that but.... on the video the zalman look better than ACXP
except for the green color
I already canceled a order of Jing heatsink in favour of silver arrow cause jing was green

Again i have to think a bit about it....
designwise the zalman look nicer more modern than ACXP but there is disadvantages with both

Zalman> Very green but i like how it is shiny
ACXP> has white fans i kind tried avoiding white fans in my black/red case.
Stock fans > having EVGA displayed on the card is nice but color is Cyan

I just care alot about looks

Are this products the same?
VF3000F(GTX580/570)
VF3000F(GTX470/465)

Did they just put it up like that one website
but both is VF3000F working for GTX580?

or maybe is the same VF3000F only the installer kit it comes with that are different?

I can see that could be a problem on a online store
if they list it only as VF3000F and then just say it work for 470,465,570,580?

Any complete Reference P/N number to be on the safe side?

Also will using VF3000F it be clearing problem with my soundcard Asus Xonar essence stx on a asrock fatal1ty p67 mobo?

Also is it realy worth remplacing the Fan on GTX580 if you not going to do overcloaking right away just play powerful games as Metro2033 ?

someone said the stock fan on GTX580 is not that loud...sure they get more silent with aftermarked fans but...

Also i plan to go sli when GTX580 drop in price later maybe then i could put on some aftermarked fans....

when go sli does it matter what assembler i choose
can i use a evga gtx580 and a Asus gtx580 in sli for example?
you can use any brand 580 to sli with your evga. But careful the Asus 580 DCII takes up 3 slots so make sure you have room first.

I read here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/315580-15-question

Unless i overcloak stock fans on Gtx580 will suffice...maybe
only thing is "if live in a hot clima" this i Do summer 40+ atleast

so not sure if i still need the arctic aftermarket cooler if i am not overcloaking yet
what i save is 60 euro which i can use for something else like a good headphone

I also bumped toward some downside of using aftermarket VGA coolers

read somewhere this:
stock fan cools the memory and VRM better
and memory is very important to be cool

True not true not sure....

And this:

"If you've ever taken apart a GTX 480 heatsink you'll see its designed to run for the lowest amount of money Nvidia could possibly spend. Its got a ****ty small and loud fan , an all aluminium heatsink thats also not so impressive. Nvidia didn't wanna make 3 slots standard because of the cost of production for the entire cooler.

The GTX 580 however has a much better heatsink design and a far quieter fan making even the stock setup vastly superior to the GTX 480 stock setup."

in other words GTX 580 will run fine but ofcourse aftermarked coolers will probaly run a bit better....

another downside with aftermarked coolers

"The only problem with after market cooling is, that except you have classified or any other mobo, that does not have more then 2 x16 slots, you can't use SLI"

Not sure what he meant here but i have Asrocks fatal1ty P67 and i plan to go sli in near future

So considering all this should i still go aftermarked coolers or should i just use stock fan?
if am not doing overcloaking yet but live in a warm clima

oh and that they dont interfere with clearance of soundcard asus essence stx
