Backup/extra battery

I'm not exactly what to call it which is why I came here instead of google. First of all, what's the proper name for a portable battery pack I can recharge on its own and then plug into my phone if its running low? I know they exist...

Second, what would you guys recommend? My HTC Evo Shift sucks down battery when I play games on it. It has a 1500mAh battery so a 1000mAh extra battery would be good.

You are better off just getting a 2nd battery. It would be less bulky to carry in your pocket than one of them portable charger things. I bought a spare battery for my Samsung Vibrant and dont even notice its in my pocket. It also comes in handy when im out all night. You can probably find an OEM battery on ebay.

Yea those 1600mAhs really won't make a huge difference once they get any age to them. 2nd battery is by far the best option.

This is one of those things that are so different for some batteries + all the different ways people say you can damage the life and blah blah blah. All I can really tell you from personal experience is it feels like you loose 10-15% within the first 3ish months, then after that it goes pretty slow. But that's the advantage of android over apple, when they get old just pick up a new one for $20 instead of a new phone for $700
