Problems with my brand new GPU...

Thread Starter
For the first hour my brand new Twin Frozr 6870 ran games perfectly. Now, every time I start up a game, I get a gray striped screen. The screen starts to go crazy and show a bunch of pixels and it just turns gray...

I am the unluckiest person in the world... This always happens to me for some reason.

Alright, which troubleshooting steps should I take first? I had my 5770 in before and I believe I am using the same drivers as that one.

Well for starters you can reseat the card, re-plug the power connectors, or try it in another PC. You can also download a monitoring program (could use MSI Afterburner) and check the temperatures and voltages and see how they behave before and after you start a game, I've had GSODs related to temperature issues before.

Okay. I have confirmed that this only happens when Crysis is launched... That is very odd. I didn't get this when I launched MW2 or Crysis Warhead. Even BC2 works fine.

Crysis is being launched through Steam btw, and so is Warhead and everything else.

Can you check the temperatures? MW2 is less GPU intensive and you may not be reaching crash-worthy temps with that game, but may be doing so with Crysis. Or it is some kind of driver/card issue with Crysis specifically.

Well, BC2 @ Very High and AAx8 runs under 60 degrees... o_O. I am sure it is a problem with Crysis. I made a new thread, if you have any other ideas, please post them there: http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/102...is-launch.html

Tried reinstalling Crysis? Are you running 11.5? If it's just Crysis, then I'm thinking a reinstall should work.
