PC acting all weird on Crysis launch

Thread Starter
Every other game works perfectly on my new Twin Frozr II 6870. I did not have this problem on my 5770. Hell, even Crysis Warhead works fine!!!

When Crysis starts, my monitor instantly starts acting all weird, changing resolutions and whatnot, and splitting the screen. Then my screen goes gray.

How come this only happens with Crysis, and not even with Crysis warhead? Every other game works fine too.

Same drivers from 5770, which I updated yesterday. I assume 5xxx and 6xxx use same drivers?

Also, I installed CCC again. Could that be the reason why? Nevertheless, Steam Driver Update doesn't find any new drivers.

Someone wanna point me in the direction of the new drivers?

Okay, I have verified that my drivers are at the latest version... Hmmm...

It shouldn't be driver problem because i never had to when switching my cards, but things happen sometime. You could try to use driver sweep in safe mode to remove everything then re-install the latest driver which is 11.5a i think. Which driver are you using atm?

I would verify integrity of the game just to rule out corrupted game.

Right-click, Properties (in steam). Find it from there.

You use the Steam driver updates?...Try completely uninstalling all ATI drivers and even running a driver sweeper program to clear it out, then reinstall using a freshly downloaded set from ATI's website. If it keeps happening after that, we can just about safely assume an issue with the game. Verify integrity like Blostorm suggested, uninstall/reinstall if necessary, make sure Steam has it set to update automatically, etc.

How do you completely remove drivers? Is there a guide for that? Also, how do you boot into safe mode?

At the part before the Windows splash screen appears, press the F8 button. You can boot into safe mode from there

Use this thread. It's all there
