x58 w/ bent pins! - Page 4

Fry's tried this crap with me... I penciled out half the resistors on the damn mobo and told them.. "Test it... it dont work with my CPU" .. since it didnt work that time...they had to exchange it.

*bottom line -> They wont take it back unless it DOESNT WORK...

If they refuse to work with you, just tell them you'll file a claim in Small Claims Court. It only costs like $20 to file, and people tend to sing a more cooperative song when legal action is in the mix.

Then we all wonder why we have such a time returning stuff that is damaged in shipping or defective. It is people like you that make it hard for people like the op to return something now. I really hate when people do stuff like that.

Op, like others suggested, try another shift. Or get the district number and ring them up and explain the issue at hand. Good luck on it.

They seem to not trust or honour your word as you say that it came like that.

I would go with the suggestion to file in small claims court and report your progress. It is more work for you but you are entitled to a new board and if you let it slide then it might happen to others. Plus it would help others know the process and what to expect if it happens to them.

Either way good luck.

I wouldn't actually go through and file it, not worth the money. Just threaten that you'll do so, they'll wise up.
A stupid sticker that they slap on a box is not enough to "protect" them.

He didn't wreck them if you actually read.

Bah shove it pal.. those pricks sold me something bad off the shelf and then refused to EXCHANGE it for me.

I see the idiots grab the returns and put new stickers on them and back on the shelves they go for some other poor sap to waste his time on. They dont give a ****.. and at the end of the day, all we ALL would like is NON_DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS OFF THE SHELVES.

So yeah.. I would intentionally - fully break something that was sold to me as defective - Just so I could get my exchange on a fault-free product.

Especially if they don't even have an employees word saying the pins weren't bent in the first place, maybe if they had checked it before letting it go out the door.

While I agree that it is money he shouldn't have to spend, it's a $200 MB that came with bent pins. If they aren't honoring their own return policy, how else will you get them to play ball? If you only threaten, they can always call your bluff and still do nothing.

Considering that the OP is in the right, I wouldn't waste my time with them anymore. Contact the store manager and inform him of the situation and to expect court papers if it doesn't get resolved right then.

Also, when dealing with ANY component, always unbox either before you leave the store, or with UPS / FedEx, refuse to sign for the package until you verify that it is unharmed.
