I do agree with you to a certain extent, but the storytelling is still pretty good! I just feel like some of the levels are a drag, in-fact, most of them! I don't find it fun being stuck in a linear city with barely any options other than to plough through hordes of bad AI.
I did enjoy the multiplayer until I realised how unrewarding and unbalanced it is. It almost feels repetitive, like each game is predictable, and you find yourself either being completely out-classed, or there's some really rubbish FPS players barely managing to shoot you.
It still feels unfinished the multiplayer, and to my mind it should focus more on teamwork other than mindless killing. Which each match turns out to be, no one even goes for the drops!
The killstreaks don't make sense and are ridiculously overpowered, first person to get three kills usually wins! That's where they've got the balance totally wrong.
The new suit feels limited too, even though the features are there such as:
They still feel half arsed, and not that necessary, especially when you have someone online with a M60 LMG headshotting you from half a mile away while you're cloaked! Definitely no point in being a Sniper unless you want to get dominated by M60 noobs, or spend half your time in hiding waiting for the right moment to pop out, until you realise other people can cloak too, and you're just as vulnerable as when you weren't cloaked, at least you can whack armour mode on and take an extra 5 shots before you're out!
I miss the open-ended-ness of Crysis, especially the multiplayer! No copters, or planes? Totally ruined the whole "feel" of Crysis. This game should not claim to be a Crysis 2, this is not a "second" Crysis. Crysis was one step forwards, Crysis 2 is 2 steps back.
Although, I do enjoy the game, but in comparison to the original, even without graphics mods, is a far more enthralling game with plenty of headroom for more! So why don't they just fully optimise the old Crysis, I don't understand? Was CryEngine 2 not good enough or something? Yeah CryEngine 3 has better capabilities such as DX11, but seriously... am I missing something?
Sorry for my rant, I'm just disappointed in Crysis 2. Although, it still deserves a good 7/10! If Crysis 2 came out before Crysis (although numerologically implausible) I would say yeah, this is an epic game, but after Crysis, this is just another game that's going to collect virtual dust (as I have a digital copy)!
If you haven't experienced the glory of vanilla Crysis, I'd suggest maybe trying this game, but if you have, stay away, you'll only be disappointed.
