Used 5970 DOA

Thread Starter
So, I bought a 5970 off ebay for fairly cheap, finally received it (a week later than I was supposed to) and turns out the card doesn't work.

I put it into a machine that I know everything else works on, connected the power adapters, tried to turn it on, and I get a post error of long, short short. The fan on the gpu never turns on, and I get absolutely no video.

Before going through all the trouble of messing with this guy on ebay, is there anything I can do to fix the card, or any way to figure out what's wrong with it to begin with? The card is by Sapphire.

Thanks guys.

I wouldn't try baking it or anything. Your power supply should be more than enough. I would just contact him and if he gives you grief paypal dispute. Sounds like it was packaged poorly or whatever.

Well the PSU I was plugging it into was actually a corsair tx650, not the one in my sig rig. But still, should be enough.

It should, but just in case, try it with your PCPaC to be sure.

I might try that tomorrow. My main rig has two watercooled video cards in it, so taking one out to test another card is a pain. I'd have to take the PSU out....which, considering the amount of "cable management" I've done with it...again, REALLY not something I want to do. The corsair normally runs a 5870 and 5850 all day and night at full blast, and is currently doing so, after the 5970 failed to start up.
