I actually thought the idle temps were fine D:

Agree with what others said about the v6 though!

suggestions welcomed? I need a cooler that will keep me cool, and also when I start prime my temps jump to 70+degrees C and the comp has frozen while doing so without even running for a couple of minutes..this is what has me worried

as for the V6 as mentioned I only paid $40 for it

If your computer freezes during a stress test or resets itself, your OC is not stable and you will need to increase your vcore +1 increment in bios.

How much are you prepared to spend on the replacement? Silver Arrow/Noctua D-14 are the top performers but also require top dollar.

I am willing to spend a decent amount, I must add that this is the temps with the comp just running, no OC at all. Also do you think the integrated GPU could cause extra heat? I haven't disabled that even though I did install my own GPU

Since are using a P67 motherboard, the IGP is disabled by default. Only the H67 and Z68 motherboards can make use of the IGP!

The Silver Arrow is currently on Amazon for $83, and D14 for $88. I'm not too familiar with when there are sales on these coolers in the US or how low these sales drop the prices to. Perhaps someone could chime in for a good place to look for cheaper deals.

Ok new problem, fixed the issue with the cooler, underload max temp reached was 54 degrees celcius.anyway I setup my steam account last night and was downloading Red Faction/ Watching Hall Pass...I feel asleep and when I woke the computer appeared to be in sleep mode but I couldn't get it out of it...so I forced shutdown and now the comp powers on but does nothing...what do you guys think happened?

Is the computer overclocked? I think there is/was an issue with P67 boards and CPU PLL Overvoltage resulting in erratic sleep mode problems.
