But that's where you're wrong, they are *much* much better. Not just a little bit. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=102 Nearly 50% faster in Cinebench R10 single thread. That's HUGE.

Now factor in a ~20% overclock for your chip (4.0) and a ~45% overclock for the 2500k (~4.8), and you're miles behind. You're greatly underestimating just how much faster Sandy is than current PhII tech.

Hopefully BD changes this.

Tox0rz: Keep reading.. Someone on XS suggested 3.2ghz stock, with 4.4ghz turbo.

the pics look pretty legit, looks like 3,2 and 3,0 GHz.

Few posts earlier someone just suggested it MIGHT be 3,6 and 3,8 (before he was proven wrong) and thats what WCCF took as basis for the news lol.. poor

What's the point of comparing an architecture as old as K10 with Intel's newest? It's obviously going to be slower and less efficient, you also have to consider that a 955/965 can be had for half the cost of a 2500K.

This thread is comical at best, forums are meant for discussions not baseless arguments. Save your comments until we have some real information, it seems like most of you are forgetting we're still in the rumors section.

Didn't I hear that Bulldozer is suppose to have an hyperthreading-like feature on it. If so, couldn't the "8-core" just be a hyperthreading quad?

Because the guy I quoted was comparing them, and I wanted to clear up his mis-understanding of the relative performance.

And also because they're on the market, right now, pitted against one another. Get real, it's not like I'm bringing up Athlon XP performance against Sandy. Yeah, comical. You've got that right. It would be less comical if you would pay attention to the CONTEXT a quote is taken from.

I have to ask; Why do you take AMD's current CPU performance personally?

Context. -noun. the parts of a written or spoken statement that precede or follow a specific word or passage, usually influencing its meaning or effect: You have misinterpreted my remark because you took it out of context.

Today's OCN word of the day. Should be stickied or something..

My reply was rhetorical, sorry for the misunderstanding. Both being on the market means nothing when comparing performance, the fact still stands that K10 is based off an ancient architecture; with this in mind how is it fair comparing Intel's newest offerings that also retails for twice as much? The comparison shouldn't have been brought up in the first place, whether it was by you or someone else.
