[Various]Gigabyte GA-990FX-UD7 motherboard - Page 24

Pre release price.

Look, the current highest AMD Gigabyte board was £155 from the same website. I've seen mark-up's of 25% on products just because they're pre order.

Like I said, knock £20 off for a real release price, you get £190 - vat = £152

152 British pounds = 250.39 U.S. dollars, that's more like 17% less

LOL, I guess that's just a local phrase we use...I meant it looks awesome. With the UD5 and UD7 above it, it seems like it won't carry a hefty price tag, either. Definitely gonna be my board if I decide to go Bulldozer.

Because why have something there when it's rarely used, if used at all? High end boards is a very niche market. Like IDE ports and Floppy ports, I'm sure there are still people out there that still use IDE based drives but why even bother with it anymore when the majority of users are using SATA interface?

Hi!
I am new to this board, but I guess I'll be following this thread closely so might as well be a member.

Anyway, getting tax-return this summer so a major overhauling is gonna be made to my computer. I've been waiting for the Crosshair V, but I was dissapointed when I saw it, as I guess many else was.

But when I saw the UD7, I knew it was gonna be my nest board, but today I saw the UD3 and it looks just as good and have a very good layout for the pcie lanes, since I will only run two cards in CF and have a pcie soundcard.

So my question is, are there any other differences between UD7 and UD3 except; no onboard pwr/rset-button (which I don't need), no coaxial out and that combo esata/usb and the ability to run external raid (all things I don't need neither)?

To put it short: Will I get just as good performance from UD3 as UD7?

-Johnny

EDIT: I also noticed that the two Marwell SATA-ports are also missing on the UD3

The performance difference should most likely be negligible, though you'll probably want to wait for benchmarks for that. The UD3 is essentially the UD7 without all of the bells and whistles from the looks of it though.

I'm also considering the UD3, love the all black these and I'll be only running single card anyway.

How much price difference could there be between the UD3 and 7?

Great looking board. Colour scheme would go great with my AMP! and ram hope performance is as good as its looks

Just a note for those considering this motherboard. It does not come with a UEFI Bios unlike it's Asus Counterparts.

I've checked the prices at webhallen.com, though the UD3 isn't listed I would guestimate SEK 500,- less than the UD7, which makes it very attractive to me, because I need new RAM since I've got a DDR2 motherboard now, and with the pricedifference I basicly get a new board and RAM for the same price as UD7
