Best low profile card

Thread Starter
I'm building a mini-ITX setup, needs to be light gaming friendly so I'd like to find the strongest card possible with these limitations-

The card must be low profile, single slot, and no PCI express connectors.

So what I've found is either a gt430 or a 6570.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130579

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121441

They both look to have the same memory bandwidth, 28gb/s. I was hoping to find a DDR5 card for more bandwidth, but the only low profile is an MSI 5670 on newegg which would be great but is not a single slot (cooler sticks out).

I also saw this gt440-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261106

But the heatsink looks to protrude past single slot status. The only difference between a gt430 and 440 seems to be core clock anyway.

So, my question now is, which card is stronger? The gt430 or the 6570?

OR, is there another card I'm missing thats better yet?

Thanks

there are these two, both of which have DDR5

just remember that the fan exhaust of single slot cards gets put back into the case. that 5770 was crazy popular from newegg but they dont carry it anymore.

The GT430 is a very capable light-gamer, HTPC card, and folder given its size and TDP (and it runs near-silently). You can often find it for $65 or less before rebates.

I would avoid that EVGA model in your OP because a) it has a 64-bit bus (reference width is 128-bit) and b) the memory clock is 600Mhz instead of 700Mhz (You can often find models running from 700-800Mhz).

The HD6570 will be a bit overpriced - You will want to consider a HD5570 as well. I used one for a while, and it held its own at 1920x1200 even - capable of playing games at medium settings while maintaining modest power requirements and being an awesome HTPC card.

Try eWiz (SuperBiiz) - They have a $5 off $50 or more ($10 off $75 or more) purchase promotion currently ongoing - They are as reliable as NewEgg with shipping that is about 1-day slower (UPS Ground vs UPS 3-Day) They have a HD5570 for $63 ($53 A/R) - That's $58 ($48 AR) after the promo code is applied. (This is the same model that I ordered - Also from them)

I'll check back in this thread later to see if you're still on the hunt - Feel free to PM me anytime, too.

Dutchgenius- Neither of those cards are low profile...only single slot.

Staryoshi- Ahh you're right, I linked to the wrong one. I fixed the link to the 128 bit one-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130579

That 5570 seems like a great price....but price is actually the last thing I'm concerned about. For a $30 price difference, having a 6k series and 80 more stream processors is IMO worth it.

If I were to go 5570 I'd like to find a GDDR5 model, then I'd definitely go for it.

In that case, how does a ddr3 5570 compare to a 128 bit gt430...here's an open box for about the same price as the 5570 you linked to-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814121397R

Honestly if I was sure it would fit I would buy this 5670-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127523

But that cooler protrudes a decent bit there.

Like I said, price isn't a concern, I'd rather have the best performance I can get.
