1 Gig Mem Netbook, will it run Win7 ?

Hi all.

We can buy cheap Netbooks having nothing more than 1 igabyte of ram and I wonder how this could offer a good win7 experience.

Does anyone already had the chance to try one of these ?

Could this really run windows 7 smoothly !?!?!

My in laws are considering one for travelling but I'm doubtful about that product performance.

It can run windows 7 okish tbh try and get a 2gb model will help out when running more than one programme at a time

Mine is running windows 7 starter. I'm about to wipe it, and put a fresh install because all the bloatware slows it down.

It does feel a little sluggish, but I'm pretty positive a ram upgrade would fix that.

It can.. but your better off with something else. win7 basic, tinyXP or linux would help it rather then having a full out win7 install on it

Well the computer wouldn't be fast over all but I doubt this could even run i7,Stay with xp for this laptop-Just to sure can you post the specs?

I'm running Windows 7 home premium on my netbook with 1GB RAM (Aspire D250). No problems at all, with all my programs installed and background tasks (Antivirus, wireless mouse software, etc) running it's still nippy.

At idle my RAM usage is only ~550MB. For the things I do on it (Type documents, web browsing, watch movies, play music, download) 1GB RAM is sufficient. I have yet to see the RAM usage go over 1GB.

For my netbook (ASUS Eee PC 1015PN), it came installed with 1GB of RAM. The system ran pretty smoothly for the most part. I then upgraded it to 2GB and well, the difference wasn't too noticeable.

Basically, it allowed me to run more programs at once but without too much of a speed increase. Also, the hard drive wasn't so taxed because the extra RAM allowed the page file to be used less.
