Win7 Server able to post without monitor?

I'm going to be using Win 7 Ultimate for a co-located Minecraft server build and I was wondering if the server would even be able to POST and boot to windows to access from LogMeIn without a monitor?

Do you already have LogMeIn installed or is it a new build?

If it's already got it installed then yes you should be fine and it will boot up.

I already have it installed I'll test and see if it works. I jsut started getting the OS and server set up yesterday.

Thanks guys!

POSTing occurs before the OS is loaded, so it doesn't matter what OS you are using, a PC will POST with no monitor attached.

Once you set it up correctly (and disable any keyboard errors in BIOS), you do not even need a video card or keyboard to POST and boot.

I have never gotten a board to boot without a video card (on boards without IGP).
My server has an old PCI card in it to get it to boot.

I have no problems running it headless (no monitor, keyboard or mouse).

Turn off all error message warnings and it will be fine. I used to run a PC with no screen just fine. It will boot up and load logmein and your good to go.

hmmm so I will need to edit settings in order to disable keyboard checks on boot, is this a setting available on supermicro boards?

I ran a server of mine with no video card and it booted up fine. The board complained with a no VGA beep error, but it still proceeded to boot correctly as usual. You may have to go into BIOS and look for something like "ignore all errors." The BIOS is usually set to stop on any error by default.

I confirmed that it boot correctly by rdp/vnc into the server. Basically once you are done setting up the server, you can run it headless (no keyboard, monitor, and video card).
