DIY Alienware Desktop

Thread Starter
Hello guys,
my current rig is having problem, so after I buy new mobo for it I will give it to parents of my GF as they have some old P4 which is pain to use when we visit them. One month ago we fried her 4 years old laptop, so she decided to buy an Alienware one as a replacement. It was her dream, so why not. Shortly after my rig went bad and she suggested to buy a new desktop PC instead of trying to repair it. Alienware of course. But my suspicion about being overprices was confirmed few days ago in this thread.

So my 1st question is: how much would cost DIY Alienware when this is their spec? Their price is 1049 Euro +29 Euro shipping
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-2300 2.8GHz
Mobo: Unknown
Cooler: Water cooling
GPU: AMD Radeon™ HD 6870 GDDR5 1GB
RAM: 3GB (3x1GB) Dual Channel 1333 Mhz DDR3
HDD: 500GB SATA III (7,200 RPM)
Case: Alienware Aurora (R3) 525W
PSU: 525W
DVD: DVD+-RW 24x
Keyboard: Alienware MultiMedia Keyboard
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

And 2nd question is: What best I can get for 1049 Euro?
I am interested in balanced build, will try some overclocking, gaming, running BOINC again, programming, etc. Doesn't matter if it's AMD or Intel build.

Bear in mind I am in Spain.

P.S. I will reuse the 2TB HDD from current rig as is 1 month old

Thanks for your tips

EDIT:
Current proposal of new rig:
Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 = 170 Euro
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3Ghz Box Socket 1155 = 184 Euro
Cooler: Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H70 = 85 Euro
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 4GB 2x2GB CL9 = 42.95 Euro
Case: Cooler Master HAF-X = 165 Euro
PSU: Corsair TX750 750W = 100 Euro
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX480 Windforce3 1536MB GDDR5 = 245 Euro
HDD: SSD ??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total = 991.95 Euro

Rule of thumb: Alienware desktops blow hard. Even with diy you're overpaying.

You'd be buying a locked processor with a mid-high end video card for 1k euros which is almost 1400 american.

for that price you should go with something like this [bear in mind the price is american, so just find each part on whatever equivalent European store you can]: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ar/azo

you could drop down to a 2500k to save cash if you don't do a lot of stuff with multitasking, and use that cash to get a high end silent air cooler or something along those lines.

"RAM: 3GB (3x1GB) Dual Channel 1333 Mhz DDR3"
lol

anyway, the guy above had a pretty decent build made for you. Not sure I'd go with a 480 though
