What is the concept behind aircooling? what temperature am i attempting to get, what vcore can i use
You asked for the screnshots so diagnose as a doctor would look at xrays
Different cores operate at different temperatures, but I think it's safe to say around high 20's to mid 30's for idle and anywhere from 50-60C under load (for extended periods of time) is fine for Q6600. I've pushed my Q6600 to 72C with the stock HSF at 3.2GHz, but I didn't do it for an extended period of time.
Right now with my CM V8 the max I've hit is 61C while playing BFBC2, but it stays at that temperature only for a few seconds. The temp will fluctuate under "gaming load" around 54-58C on average.
In regard to temperature and Vcore threshold, that's chip specific. I don't think there's any one magical number that one person can attain that will be perfect for all CPUs. Chips will fry at different temperatures and voltages. Do your research for each CPU you'll be dealing with to get an idea of the threshold values. I believe the max temp and voltages are listed on Intel's website, I don't know about AMD.Edited by iareConfusE - 5/22/11 at 6:01pm
