Run prime95. 100% CPU load. WEI is a piece of crap.

Keep temps under 80C.

What voltage on the 3ghz OC?

What ambient temps?

EDIT: Zalman CPNS11X is also a piece of crap. New fan won't help. Get a Noctura D14/Silver arrow/ RX360 kit.

1. WEI may be crap but it won't fry ya CPU.

2. Which temp do i trust, AIDA64 is a commercial product and the temp never goes over 60/C. Yet RealTemp says 80/C

3. On the 3.2Ghz OC i am setting it to 1.200V max. AIDA64 reports 1.176V which is what AUTO had the 2.4Ghz at.

4. CPU idle is ambient temp? or the mobo's? Probably 34/C

Firstly, just fill in the system spec for whichever you're testing and leave it at that. Prime won't fry your CPU if you turn it off the moment it gets too high.

Secondly, use RealTemp. Though, I'd get CoreTemp and HWMonitor as well. I'm not going to link you as it's not hard to just enter those names into google to download them.

Thirdly, that could possibly be VDroop.

Finally, CPU Idle is not the ambient temperature. Do you have a bloody thermometer nearby? That's your ambient temperature.

I have a q6600 too. I would look at your temps with core temp http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

60-65 Degrees c is what i would consider the limit in my opinion

Ambient is the air temperature in your room or near the computer

1.2v is nice for 3.2ghz, if you are stable e.g. 8hrs prime 95

Hey dude i think u have similar mobo to mine p5k deluxe WIFI-AP edition....what the heck is AP anyways?

what setting to i use to keep the CPU constant and not fluctuate on load?

thanks all....

yea mate same mobo. Um speed stepping i think, I go in there so often you would think i would know lol.

You mean the cpu speed correct?, e.g. 3.2Ghz but it drops during idle. I normally leave this to auto as it keeps the idle temps down and power usage.

You also may mean vdroop which is when the voltage drops under load, on this mobo you enable load line calibration, this will try and keep the voltage the same all the time

not sure LOL,

1. i load the ASUS DEFAULTS
2. SET THE RATIO to 8
3. fsb to 400
4. cpu voltage to 1.2

thats it.....

Well run prime 95 for at least 30mins for now, watch the temps with core temp, if it goes over 70 degrees c then stop the test.

If it goes over 70 then you need to Lower the overclock or get a new cpu cooler. You have a good chip there 1.2v VID (stock volts) is the lowest the come as far as im aware (mines 1.325) so let us know how Prime 95 goes.

Ok so installed the noiseblocker MP-14 on my CNPS11X.

4.6 GHZ stable max temp 74c under max load (8 thread maximum 14.8 gig memory intel burn test) . No longer sounds like a f'ing jet engine either.

Max using Prime95 Blend 8 threads is 65c.

Think good place to be? Core I7, Vcore set at 1.345, 46x multiplier and 100FSB.
