6950 2gb or 560 direct cu II

Thread Starter
So I am returning my sapphire 6950 1gb and am either getting a reference 6950, or a GTX 560 direct cu II.

Which should I get?

The reference 2GB is missing a bios switch? lolwut?

Anyways 1GB cards don't have one. Some non-reference 2GB cards do (not XFX) but it varies on model, revision and brand.

Anyway, between the 2 get the 6950 because its about 10% faster at stock and although unlocking isn't really worth it (3-4% extra performance) they do overclock nicely. I would say get an MSI Twin Frozr or ASUS DCII or PowerColor PCS++ if they still have those and are a fair price.

hd 6950 1gb performs exactly like the 2gb version under 1920x 1200 resolution. About the unlocking, you can only unlock shaders and it's not guaranteed to work, if it does work, you will only notice 1-3% performance increase. Not worth it at all.

I keed, I keed. But seriously, the 6950 is the stronger card so if you got the bucks and won't miss PhysX and CUDA then go for it!

Picked up the 6950 2nd revision reference, BC2 maxed at my resolution gets around 50-70 fps.

The cooler on this thing is whimpy...
